An original watercolor for a PSM magazine article about the video game Silent Hill. It had not yet been released, and I had to do some guess-work to match the final look. I’m told I came pretty close.
I’ve never played the game, but it went on to be quite popular. I sold the original art very quickly, and did not have a scanner at the time, so this was shot from a color copy.
Silent Hill spawned a film starring Sean Bean, and considering what a Bean fan I am, I can’t think why I haven’t seen it.
I don’t recall signing a release of rights for this art, but I assume the owner of Silent Hill is Konami and Sony. And with that, I put the big © here.

I really like Silent Hill!
SH2 was one of the main reasons I got an XBOX (the original one) since it would be released for that platform in a “extended edition” with a little more playtime. I have since then bought SH1, SH3 and SH4 for various platforms (including PC), the movie on both DVD and Blu-Ray as well as the soundtracks for all 4 games…
The movie is very well done and I think it really has the feeling of the games! It is occasionally quite grisly, thoug.
It is made by Gristophe Gans that also made “Crying Freeman” and “Le Pacte Des Loups (Brotherhood Of The Wolf)”.
Sean Beans role in the film is quite small, the original script had only women in it! According to IMDB the script was returned with a note “There is no men!”, the script was rewritten with a couple of male characters added and it was approved.
You know, I have a copy of “Brotherhood of the Wolf” and have not seen it, either. My pop culture creds are totally taking a beating today.
Well, there is your homework for… some weekend, in the not too distant future
